E and I went to Philly 3 weeks ago, primarily for the Lucinda Williams concert at The Keswick Theatre. Friday night, Lu was awesome as always. Even moreso actually. Acoustics were dynamic. She was uber focused and her voice was in the truest and strongest shape I have ever encountered live. (in CA and PA) If you closed your eyes, you would think you were listening to a studio production with a healthy helping of that intangible live energy. I was blown away at the change in her since I last saw her live. Tried & True Party Lu no more. This woman is in love and is at the top of her game.
Next day (Saturday) we went to Eastern State Penitentiary for an afternoon 1 hour guided tour. It's one of the places we have have "been meaning to go" for some time. WIth the demise of Bethlehem Steel photo tours, our jonesin' for historical sleeping rust and the stories within, had reached a low-grade fevered pitch.
The winter months don't afford the opportunity for unguided tours, and after the trek by the what had to have been an Ex-Library/Prinicipal/Boarding School Teacher/Joan Crawford-esque Sadist, I know I have to go back for the 4 hour unguided tour. (Skipper Be Gone... A Four Hour Non-Tour)
E and I both have a penchant for serial killers and all things crime, mystery, and James Patterson etc AL.
Speaking of AL , I dIdn't include the mucho cliched Capone cell... aiming for true grit here.
Blathering been Blathered, There a a few shots behind the cut that were quite rushed, but I see potential for next time.
